The purpose of the course is to provide students with sufficient knowledge and deepen their understanding of the subject of social mobility, viewed through the lens of social policy.
Upon completion of this course, students are expected to:
Have acquired adequate knowledge and skills to critically engage with the core mechanisms of intergenerational social mobility.
Be familiar with discussions concerning the connection between intergenerational social mobility and equality of opportunity.
Be capable of retrieving, evaluating, and interpreting data from various sources for the purpose of analyzing issues related to the intergenerational transmission of resources and status from a comparative perspective. They should also have developed the ability to conduct independent research.
Be able to synthesize interpretations and viewpoints, and develop systematic, critically-oriented arguments supported by adequate empirical evidence.
Be able to produce written work that meets the standards of academic research (in terms of structure, analysis, documentation, and presentation of empirical data and bibliographic references).
